In 2002, the Community of Caring Foundation, a Colorado tax exempt nonprofit incorporated in 1998, opened the doors of the Aspen Mine Center to provide a “one-stop resource shop” for residents of southern Teller County and the surrounding area. The AMC now houses some two dozen nonprofit service organizations.

The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) is a friend to jobseekers as well as workers. The organization's employment and training segment provides job search assistance, occupational training, and referrals. Its workers' compensation unit offers medical and disability benefits to injured employees. Through CDLE's division of labor, it protects employees, employers, and the public by regulating and enforcing the state's labor laws.
