Job Description

The Master & Reference Data Management Director is responsible for providing the strategic and tactical oversight of both the Master and Reference Data Management (MDM/RDM) functions for the organization in addition this role will augment existing automated master data management processes through effective master data stewardship. This role is responsible for ensuring the integrity and reliability of data for consistency across master and reference domains and fosters collaboration between respective teams. Beyond governing the life cycle management of enterprise data, they contribute to the definition, development, and implementation of overarching data policies, procedures, and governance models. The Director plays a pivotal role in aligning the company's strategic objectives with robust data management practices. Additionally, they provide Enterprise Data & Insights (ED&I) leadership, promoting a data-driven culture throughout the organization.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

  • Establish strategic direction and provide executive leadership for all MDM/RDM initiatives
  • Partner with DT on the Enterprise Strategy for Master and Reference data
  • Partner with Data Technology (DT) on technology and architecture strategy to enable the MDM/RDM Strategy
  • Oversee the governance, stewardship, and quality of master and reference data across the organization, driving the implementation of data standards, procedures, and policies
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to gather, analyze, and align master and application data requirements with overall business objectives and value
  • Work closely with Data Technology (DT) teams to orchestrate seamless integrations with source systems and ensuring efficient synchronization across MDM platforms
  • Direct the management, planning, and execution of Master and reference data management projects. Partner with the Shared Data Platform team in enabling Master & Reference data consumption and system integrations leveraging Master and reference data
  • Partner with DT teams to enable production support in ensuring the swift resolution of master and reference data issues and user queries
  • Continuously monitor and provide proactive recommendations for improvements in data management landscape, focusing on quality, operational efficiency, and data privacy
  • Retain operational responsibility for MDM teams, mentoring, managing, and developing their competencies in data stewardship and master and reference data operations.

FORMAL EDUCATION:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field or in lieu of related degree, at least 12[A1] years of experience in data management

Preferred:

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., ADM Hub, Informatica ADM, or IBM ADM) preferred

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • 12+ years of experience in master data management, application data management, data governance, data quality, or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience managing and leading a team of direct reports
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing enterprise-scale master and/or application data management initiatives
  • Deep understanding of industry standards, regulations, and best practices for data governance and data management principles
  • Excellent strategic, communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
  • Proficiency in data modelling, data mapping, integration concepts, and data warehousing principles
  • Experience with enterprise-grade master and application data management tools
  • Knowledge of ERPs
  • Experience with MDM toolsets
  • Familiarity with domain

TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Required:

  • Data Governance Frameworks and Data Security Regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA)
  • Data Management Tools (e.g., Semarchy, Informatica, Oracle)
  • Data Warehousing & ETL Processes
  • Data Virtualization (e.g., Denodo)
  • Data Quality and Profiling (e.g., SAS Viya, Informatica DQ)
  • Understanding of API Frameworks
