Job Title: Program Specialist

FLSA Status: Full Time - exempt
Reports to: Divisional Social Services Secretary (Divisional Secretary for Program)

Schedule: FT/E, Monday-Friday standard office hours
Supervises: Executive Assistant for Program and Officer Development, The Divisional Statistician

Rate of Pay: $55,000/year

Closing Date: 5/10/2024

Function

This position provides support to the Divisional Social Services Secretary for year-round Divisional programs, and reviews. This includes engagement, training, corps ministry review and growth, older adult ministries and community cares ministries, and veterans' ministries.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Program Specialist will assist the Divisional Secretary for Program with:

  • Corps Programs and Ministries
  • Corps Reviews - overseeing and organizing annual corps reviews that involves coordinating our divisional leadership team to schedule, conduct and report on missional health and localized strategic plans.
  • Reviewing Corps Review and strategic plan processes to ensure effective, meaningful and leads to robust DHQ support.
  • Divisional Advisory Organizations - development, and support.
  • Divisional Review - scheduling reviews, gathering/presenting statistical data on missional health and impact of Mission Expressions (Corps, Shelters, SE, etc.) of the IM Division.
  • Corps Growth and Evangelism Men's Ministries - resourcing, tools, and support.
  • TEAM and Local Officer Training CCM, OAM, VAVS, Silver Star.
  • Divisional Calendar - preparing and distributing.
  • Ministry Health Strategic Plan - its creation, implementation, and evolution.
  • Divisional Program Council - participating as a member.
  • Statistics - ensuring the proper collection, analysis, and reporting of statistics as required by Territorial Headquarters.
  • Evaluation and Reporting of Programs - monthly and annual evaluation and reporting of program health and effectiveness.
  • Stakeholder Communication - creating and maintaining effective communication systems and protocols with frontline stakeholders (volunteers, soldiers, Corps Officers, and Advisory Organization Members) that promote missional awareness, events, divisional initiatives and culture.
  • On-Site Evaluations - visiting each Corps annually to build relationships, encourage personnel, evaluate programs, provide training, and promote best practices.
  • Divisional Program Inventory - maintaining a Divisional Program Inventory comprised of all divisional programs that lists key information such as program hours, cost, and key personnel.
  • Communication Systems - ensuring all communication systems (existing and potential) such as MS TEAMS, The Landing (Intranet), Corps Management Software, and any others are maximized for the fulfillment of departmental objectives.
  • DHQ Chapels - help with the administration, and organization of DHQ weekly chapels.
  • Critical Systems - developing, maintaining, and encouraging best practices of use by Mission Expressions (Corps, Units, Shelters, etc.) of critical software including but not limited to Corps Management Software, The Landing, Teams and other systems, as needed.
  • Divisional Events - assisting the DSP with planning and implementation, registration and communication of all divisional events, including but not limited to United meetings, Family Camps, Round Tables, Camps, etc.

Qualifications and Education/Other Requirements

  • Uniform-wearing Salvationist, in good standing.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in ministry leadership.
  • A minimum of an AA in church ministry or a relevant field.

Additional Notes:

  • Continued employment will be contingent on a biennial (every two years) background check that is processed in accordance with The Salvation Army's policies.
  • This position includes driving responsibilities. An annual MVR will be processed in accordance with The Salvation Army's policies.
  • Positions with driving responsibilities require the driver to be at least 21 years of age (for insurance provision) and possess a valid in-state driver's license.
