Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mining Practice Leader in our Lakewood, CO, Greenwood Village, CO, or Colorado Springs, CO offices to help us grow our Mining Practice. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience and the ability to help grow and lead the practice. You must have an entrepreneurial attitude and enthusiasm for supporting business development and technical efforts to expand Geosyntec's market share. This position will support the creation and implementation of new approaches by providing strategic solutions to our client's most complex problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    Business development, program and project management, and technical lead for mining projects related to mine impacted water treatment, hydrology and water management, reclamation and closure planning, sustainability, containment technologies, and regulatory permitting/compliance solutions;
  • Maintaining high visibility in the marketplace through regular client contact, participation in client-based professional organizations, and attendance and presentations at industry events;
  • Identifying and developing successful client relationships and new business development opportunities on a local, regional, or national basis;
  • Managing programs, projects and staff, including providing technical leadership and oversight, risk management, and mentoring;
  • Coordinating with other practices and/or offices and regions to facilitate project delivery;
  • Assisting in recruiting, mentoring, and training additional staff to grow the mining practice;
  • Serve in a leadership role for the company culture and values across the organization.
  • Training: This position requires OSHA/MSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including technical conferences, in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Fieldwork: Typically, approximately 10%
  • Overnight travel: Typically, approximately 20%

Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering (mining, environmental, civil, chemical), geology, geochemistry, water resources or hydrogeology. (required)
  • Advanced degree in same. (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 10 years of mining and environmental consulting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • 15 years of mining and environmental consulting experience. (preferred)
  • Thorough knowledge and experience with local regulations, and good relationships with regulators. (required)
  • Professional Engineer registration or Professional Geologist registration. (preferred)
  • Project management certification, business development training, and leadership training. (preferred)
  • Regional visibility through involvement in professional associations or trade organizations. (preferred)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below is the range that we in good faith believe is the potential compensation for this role at the time of this posting and is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Colorado. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec's total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum Salary: $127,005 / Maximum Salary: $187,350 (Lakewood, Greenwood Village)
  • Minimum Salary: $120,960 / Maximum Salary: $178,430 (Colorado Springs)
